Top public speaker lauds local debating team talent
ONE of Queensland's top public speakers says she was blown away by the talent on display at the Apex High School Debating District Final in Maryborough on Tuesday night.
Emma-Kate Currie, winner of Apex's recent state debating competition, said the junior and senior teams argued well on two controversial topics: multiculturalism is a mirage and the right to own guns endangers lives.
St Mary's Catholic College won the junior debate and Fraser Coast Anglican College won the senior.
Both will now go on the represent the Wide Bay at the state finals, which will be held at the Sunshine Coast in October.
