THE trolley of toys for the Hervey Bay General Hospital Children's Ward was so big, little Harlee Robins had to pick up the toys that fell off as it was pushed through the doors.

The giant trolley of stuffed teddy bears, presents and gifts marks the end of a massive project that toy run organisers Simone Stern and Keith Robins have been developing since February, with the toys being distributed to children at the hospital over Christmas on Thursday morning.

Hundreds of riders turned up for last week's Wide Bay Rodders and Ulysses Toy Run, with the pair stating they were "overwhelmed" by the community support.

Up to $2500 in cash donations alone was raised from the event, but the pair can't even put a figure on the amount raised in toy donations.

"Behind the scenes, it's a huge plan," Mr Robins said.

"It's really good to see this come through, it makes it all worthwhile."

The pair will donate the toys to the Children's Ward in the Hervey Bay General Hospital, with the cash donations going towards the Neonatal ward.

Ms Stern said three times as many gifts were received in the run for this year, and praised the efforts of the community for helping sick children.

"It's awesome how many toys the public have donated, and they know where their toys are going," she said.

"At the end of the day, there's a real community spirit to see with this project coming through.

"For people to go out of their way to do this is a huge benefit to the children in need this Christmas."
