Trail map unlocks town history in mural

THE Maryborough Mural Trail is almost done, and the Maryborough Mural Project will be having a grand opening next month.

Fraser Coast Tourism and Events will host the grand opening, which will include a trail map with each mural's location.

The function will be held Wednesday, July 4 at 10am on the Town Hall Green.

The project cordially invites everyone from the whole community to attend.

"Our work is now almost done," project co-founder Elizabeth Lowrie said.

"We have 30 murals and installations to exhibit - these are for people to walk around town to view and enjoy our historical city.

"It's been a mountainous task for our volunteers, but we are now ready to receive those flocks of tourists."

"We could not have done it without the support of our volunteers, Maryborough businesses, and the local community," co-founder Deb Hannam said.

"It's been done on the smell of an oily rag.

"It will be a big drawcard for our community, so please come and celebrate with us on the fourth and spread the word.

"We invite all the community to attend this grand event and walk our trail."
