Training award for Sea Swift

ONE of the most prominent companies in Gladstone is celebrating after winning the prestigious Queensland Employer of the Year award.

Sea Swift, which has depots on Thursday Island and Horn Island, and in Weipa, Seisia, and Gladstone, took out the gong at the Queensland Training Awards.

Chief executive officer Fred White said the company was thrilled to be recognised as providing the best vocational and education training out of any company in Queensland.

"We're absolutely delighted to have won this award for the first time, and it is a tribute to each and every one of our amazing staff," he said.

"It's a fantastic achievement and great acknowledgement for all the hard work put in by our people over a number of years."

Mr White said Sea Swift has a five-year horizon to grow from about 300 staff and 27 vessels to 400 staff and 35 vessels.
