Brothers league season kicks off

RUGBY LEAGUE: Maryborough Brothers will begin preparations for what is sure to be a tough year of football when they resume training at the Ann Street clubhouse tonight.

Training will start at 6pm for both the A-grade and under-18 sides as the team looks to prepare for the new season of the Fraser Coast Rugby League competition.

Brothers president Jeff Nugent said the team was looking forward to the start of the season.

“We’re looking forward to getting back into it,” Nugent said.

The team is also looking forward to test themselves against the Maryborough Wallaroos, who will come across from the Bundaberg Rugby League competition this year to join the other Wallaroos side already in the competition.

The Wallaroos won that competition this year and Nugent believes their inclusion in the competition will lift the standard.

“It’s going to make it very competitive.”
