Trains on track, with 93% turning up on time
QUEENSLAND's train schedules seem to be back on track with the State Government praising itself for pushing rail services to run on schedule.
Transport Minister Scott Emerson said after first running a maintenance audit early last year, there was now a team dedicated to keeping trains running on time.
Mr Emerson said in the 2012-13 financial year, more than 93% of trains arrived at their destinations on time during morning and afternoon peak hours
In the same period, delays caused by network issues fell by more than 50%, from 4689 the year before, to 2314.
The minister said survey results showed rail commuters felt QR was doing a better job.
He praised commuters too, 75% of whom were allowing five minutes between arriving at a station and hopping aboard a train.
"Being on the platform ready to board when the train arrives plays an important part in improving on-time running," Mr Emerson said.
