Travellers need to set off earlier to allow for delays

FRASER Coast residents travelling on the Bruce Hwy have been warned to allow extra travel time as roadworks continue between Childers and Gympie.

Transport and Main Roads said drivers should expect delays of 25 minutes if they are heading north.

Upgrades and flood repair works are occurring at the Walker St exit to Maryborough, Torbanlea, Howard and south of the Isis River.

Work near Bauple will also continue until October, with reduced speed limits in place and five-minute delays expected.

The upgrade includes a new southbound overtaking lane.
