Trevorrow grabs triathlon win ahead of Wilson

JIMMY Trevorrow used a strong cycle and run leg to take out round three of the Hervey Bay Triathlon Club series in Pialba.

The Maryborough-bred triathlete completed the 1km swim, 30km bike ride and 8km run in an impressive time of 1hr 25min 19sec.

He finished a little over a minute ahead of exciting young prospect Christian Wilson, who competed in his first full triathlon since tearing his hamstring from the bone in May.

It was Trevorrow's first triathlon in Hervey Bay since February and the 21-year-old said the win was a great way to celebrate receiving his professional card from Triathlon Australia less than a week ago.

"All three legs were firing okay today," he said.

"The bike was a pretty good factor as there are some strong guys who know how to ride in a non-drafting race so I knew it was going to be tough."

Amie Munson (1hr 51min) won the senior women's race, while Daniel Willis and his sister Brooke won the intermediate races.
