Hervey Bay's aquathon is back

TRIATHLON: The Triathletes of the Fraser Coast will be looking to make a splash when they compete in Hervey Bay Triathlon Club’s aquathon tomorrow.

A few familiar faces will be missing – several of the Fraser Coast’s most talented triathletes are heading to Goondiwindi to compete in the Hell of the West triathlon, which is a half-Ironman event.

The event will test the limits of the triathletes, even those that compete regularly.

A 2km swim in the MacIntyre River will kick off the event.

There will then be an 80km cycle leg, which will be the most testing part of the event.

A 20km run will conclude the event.

Hervey Bay Triathlon Club is hosting the aquathon at Ron Beaton Park.

The juniors competition will start at 6.50am and the seniors event will start at 7.40am.

The distances for the senior competitors will include a 3km run, 800m swim and another 3km run. The intermediate competitors will do half that distance.

The Wide Bay triathlon squad will also be using the aquathon as a final warm-up event for the state titles, which will be held in Redcliffe next month.
