Trophy success for young guns

YOUNG guns from the Maryborough and District Western Performance Club ended the year on a high at their annual presentation day last Sunday.

According to the club’s secretary, Lisa Silvester, the highlight of the event, held at the Maryborough Sportsmen’s Club, was the bright reception from the club’s youngest members being presented their trophies.

First place went to Cody Gallagher, the runner-up was Courtney Smallgood and encouragement awards went to Cody Stedman and Jesse Gallagher.

“The presentation turnout was a nice get-together, with members being able to catch up and enjoy a meal together without having to worry about their horses,” Ms Silvester said.

“Kev Riley kept the awards presentation rolling with his in-between commentary.”

President Debbie Lindeberg presented high point award winners with a variety of goodies including buckles, trophies, saddle clothes, hat cans and saddle bags.

Rebecca Laing’s gelding, Widowers Leo, took out the club’s high point horse of the year.

The club’s first event in the New Year will be a Ken Davidson clinic from January 15 to 16.
