Truck carrying cracker dust rolls on highway

A SEMI-TRUCK towing a tipper trailer with 20 tonnes of cracker dust caused disruptions to the Bruce Highway near Apple Tree Creek when it rolled early this morning.

Childers Police said the crash happened at 7am yesterday about 500m north of the intersection near Apple Tree Creek, after the driver of the vehicle lost control while driving around the corner.

Police said the driver blamed the sun for blocking his vision, which resulted in the trailer slipping off the edge of the road.

The highway was completely blocked and diversions were erected around the site.

Investigations are continuing.
