Truck fire blocks highway as driver escapes with his life

A TRUCK fire caused delays on the Warrego highway for over 7 hours, as emergency services struggled clear the wreckage from the motorway. 

The blaze occurred 15 km west of Dalby Monday morning, sparked by a non suspicious flame. 

The truck which had no load at the time, was seen to be smoking for a good two hours after authorities arrived at the scene.

Police state the cab was destroyed by the fire, however the driver escaped injury. 

The driver reported seeing smoke come from the vents, before the engine and then cabin was engulfed in flames.

Allegedly work had recently been done on the vehicles air-conditioner. 

A tow truck did not arrive from Brisbane until mid afternoon.
