Truck veers off Warrego Hwy, almost crashes into dam wall

THERE were scary scenes on the Warrego Hwy at Bowenville this afternoon, as a semi-trailer truck cut across the wrong side of the road, and almost crashed into the nearby dam wall.

Emergency services were called out to the corner of the Warrego Hwy and Paull Ln, Bowenville, after reports of a truck colliding into trees.

Senior Constable Jodie Tahana from Dalby Police said the 47-year-old Toowoomba man who was driving the truck claimed he had a "coughing fit" before veering off road.

The truck cut through a paddock on the opposite side of the road, before stopping narrowly in front of a dam wall.

Fortunately no other vehicles were involved in the accident, and the driver of the truck sustained no injuries.
