Two Fraser Coast cyclists named in Queensland team

TWO MEMBERS of six-person Queensland Long Squad's elite men's team for next year's Australian Track Cycling Championships are Fraser Coast products.

Jordan Kerby and Dylan Newbery were both named in the team who will compete at the February 1-4, 2018, event in Brisbane.

Kerby, who currently trains as part of Cycling Australia's high performance team in Adelaide, headlines the 19-member squad.

The current individual pursuit world champion, who shocked the world with the third-quickest time in history earlier this year, won gold in both the individual pursuit and team pursuit at the Oceania Track Championships in New Zealand.

Newbery currently rides for Mobius Future Racing in the National Road Series.

Sunshine Coast trio Kaden Groves, Ryan Cavanagh and Jake van der Vliet and Brisbane's Oliver Smith round out the elite men's team.
