SAILING the high seas listening to great tunes with a good mate - it's a dream of many, but for two Hervey Bay residents that dream will become a reality.

Joe MacDougall has sailed to the tiny New Guinea island of Gigula three times before, to donate goods and help to build a local school.

Now with his best "first mate" Rick Martin on deck, Mr MacDougall will set off once more.

"I wouldn't have been able to do it without help from Vinnies, the Baptist church, Graham Palmer and boat harbour fisheries for letting me use their berth," he said.

Mr MacDougall will leave the Urangan Boat Harbour when the weather improves.
