Two men arrested after officials seize meth in drug bust

TWO Hong Kong nationals living in Australia have been arrested after a major drug bust intercepted 72 litres of methamphetamine on its way to Australia.

Customs officers seized the liquid methamphetamine in a consignment of hairdressing equipment from China after receiving intelligence about the shipment.

A joint operation of Australian Federal Police and Customs officials confirmed the shipment contained 72 litres of methamphetamine.

A controlled delivery of the shipment was conducted during the week, leading to the arrest of a 35-year-old and 43 year-old man.

Both men were charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of border controlled drugs, facing a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and/or a $1,275,000 fine.

The investigation is ongoing and authorities did not rule out more arrests.
