Two men charged with drug offence after RBT stop

OFFICERS from the Gold Coast Rapid Action and Patrol Squad have charged two men with drug offences yesterday afternoon in Helensvale.

It will be alleged that approximately 405 grams of ice amphetamines was found hidden in a vehicle while officers were conducting stationary random breath testing on Monterey Keys Drive about 5pm.

The drugs are reported to be worth approximately $260,000.

Acting Inspector Matt Kelly from the Gold Coast RAP said: "This is another example of how policing drink driving and other traffic offences can lead to the discovery of significant criminal matters."

A 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both from Sydney, have been charged with one count of possess dangerous drugs.

They are expected to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court later this morning.
