Many new faces at Urangan

URANGAN State High School has had an influx of new teachers for 2010 with new arrivals from as far away as Tully, Atherton, Kingaroy, Gladstone, the Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg.

Each has brought with them a vast array of knowledge and teaching experience to the teaching team at Urangan State High School, including special education teacher Gavin Savage.

“Coming from a small country school in far north Qld I thought Urangan High was going to be quite daunting,” he said.

“However I have found the staff and students to be very welcoming and am looking forward to teaching at USHS.”

Andy Manttan, who is teaching maths and science, has come from Toolooa State High near Gladstone but was at an all-girls school in London for 18 months before that.

“I’m enjoying living in Hervey Bay and working in a very big co-ed school,” he said.
