THE upgrade of William St, Urangan, has been hailed as a highlight in the Fraser Coast Regional Council's budget.

Councillor for Division 10 George Seymour said he was pleased to have been successful in having $440,000 allocated to the upgrade.

"William St residents and road users have known for some time that this upgrade is badly needed and we are getting on with the job," he said.

Cr Seymour was pleased the budget included a number of other important projects including restoration of the Urangan pier costing $1.25 million and Urangan precinct works worth $430,000.
