Vegie spill stops market trip

A 34-YEAR-OLD Bundaberg truckie on his way to the Brisbane markets lost a load of sweet potatoes when he rolled his truck on the Bruce Highway early yesterday morning.

The driver was able to climb out of the B-Double rig before emergency services arrived.

He was taken by ambulance to Hervey Bay Hospital for treatment for an injured shoulder and suspected spinal injuries.

The crash happened at Aldershot just after midnight and slowed traffic on the highway for much of the day.

One lane of the highway was closed and traffic controllers were in place to divert drivers around the scene of the crash.

A massive clean-up effort started in the early hours of the morning and continued throughout the day. The vegetables spilt over the road were loaded into another truck.
