VMR are expecting action this weekend

BOATIES heading out on the water this Easter weekend should be patient at the ramp and safe on the water.

Light winds and sunny days are expected to indulge the region today; pulling many boats out of the garage and onto the water.

Marine Rescue Hervey Bay volunteers will spend the weekend manning the tower and keeping an eye on boats in the Sandy Strait.

Before venturing out owners should ensure their boats had enough fuel for the journey and appropriate safety equipment was onboard.

Before you head out on the water log on with VMR Hervey Bay on VHF channels 73, 22 or 67 or 27.91MHz, or call on 4128 9666.

Marine Rescue commodore John Smith said the trailer park at Urangan would be full this weekend.

"I think we'll have quite a few activations," he said.

On Friday Marine Rescue volunteers travelled to Coongul Creek to rescue a broken down vessel.

Mr Smith said it was a timely reminder to ensure your vessel was mechanically sound.
