Little Emily born on Oz Day
LITTLE Emily Rose Barlogie may be Australia’s youngest patriot.
Even in the womb, this beautiful bub knew she wanted to enter the world on Australia Day.
“She’s 11 days overdue,” excited new mum Amanda Barlogie said.
“It’s pretty patriotic.
“We wanted an Australia Day baby.
“She could’ve come at any time, but I held off and she just wanted to come today.”
Emily is the first child for Amanda and husband Phil, who live at Kawungan.
She was born at Hervey Bay Hospital at 9.04am yesterday, weighing 7lb 11oz (3500 grams).
“It was really fast actually,” Ms Barlogie said.
“I was induced (Monday) night and things started to happen at 2am and then she was here.”
Spending the day in hospital trying to sleep is not the way the Barlogies would usually go about their Aussie Day celebrations.
“We normally go away for the weekend down to the surf and have a camping weekend,” Ms Barlogie said.
But the new parents are not complaining – they now have an extra reason to celebrate come every January 26.
“She’ll have a holiday on her birthday every year,” Ms Barlogie said.
“Mum and bub are doing very well – and so is Dad.
“We couldn’t be happier.
“Hopefully she’ll go to sleep now so I can get some sleep,” the proud mum said.
