Warriors coach sympathises with his rival

WARRIORS coach Matt Elliott knows how his opposite number Peter Sharp is feeling at Cronulla.

Elliott was full of confidence before the season started, only to begin with surprise losses to Parramatta and the Dragons.

Things are even worse in the Shire, with the Sharks on a four-game losing streak. While they are missing a host of stars including internationals Paul Gallen (ankle) and Luke Lewis (shoulder), Elliott (pictured) said nothing was "ever as bad as you think".

"I know who they don't have playing, but the people they have are a pretty handy crew so we will need to be really focused and ready to compete at their ground. I'm expecting our toughest game of the year," he said.

Sharks playmakers Michael Gordon (knee) and Todd Carney (hamstring) are in doubt for the match, while Warriors back-rower Jason Bukuya has a toe problem but is expected to play.
