WATCH: Never seen water like that in Seaforth

GREG Webster's beachfront holiday house at Seaforth was fully booked out for this month.

However, after it was ravaged by the storm surge that followed Tropical Cyclone Debbie, he has had to cancel all of the bookings.

"I'll lose some there," he said.

The beach house has been in the Webster family for about 60 years.

"It's been our family home all my life and I've never ever seen it come through like that," Mr Webster said.

"The ocean just came through and swamped our place.

"All downstairs has probably had up to about 400ml through of mud and slop."

He said the water from the beach, mixed with sand, mud and debris came right through the house and out to the back shed.

Not only did they lose everything from downstairs, they lost a lot of machinery from the shed as well.

Things like chainsaw, mowers and whipper snippers.

"It was pretty full on," Mr Webster said.

Their washing machine, dryer fridge and freezer was all destroyed.

Mrs Webster had also been storing things in the spare room downstairs like linen for their caravan, which was also trashed.

"We didn't think it was going to be anything like that," Mr Webster said.

"But then we started to hear reports of the surge and we knew, because we are right at the front.

"I have seen it come through the drain and back up, but nothing like that strong surge we had.

"Usually, it comes over worse down the other end but this time it was right here."

He said they were well prepared for backlash of a cyclone, but not for the storm surge that followed.

Whilst busy cleaning up, Mr Webster said the Mackay Community Services came around to their house and gave them a number for assistance.
