Weather: Gale force wind warning as low smashes south
UPDATE: The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a gale force wind warning for Fraser Island Coast, Sunshine Coast Waters and Gold Coast Waters this Thursday.
We can expect cloudy conditions on the Fraser Coast until Thursday with a chance of showers for the rest of the week leading into next week.
EARLIER: Gale force winds are likely to smash the coast of Fraser Island as an east coast low smashes further south.
Winds between 30-35 knots are expected to smash south of Sandy Cape on Thursday and Friday.
Bureau of Meteorology weather forecaster Vinord Anand said a gale-force wind warning would be likely for waters off Fraser Island, but we're not expected to any decent rainfall from the low system.
"We can expect up to 10mm," Mr Anand said.
Today's highest falls were in Gayndah where 5.2mm fell.
It is a different story further south.
A developing low pressure system off the northern New South Wales coast is expected to bring heavy rainfall, damaging winds and damaging surf to parts of the northern coast.
This low pressure system will slowly move northwards during the day, before moving east over the Tasman Sea on Thursday.
