Weekend of Fraser Coast sport washed out

SPORT: The extended Christmas break has come early for Fraser Coast's cricket and softball players.

Uncertainty over Tropical Cyclone Owen and forecast falls of as much as 85mm from Saturday to Monday, Friday's intense downpour in Maryborough and the safety of members who had to travel between towns, led to the cancellation of local sports' fixtures.

Local summer sports competitions will resume in the New Year.
