No close shave for blokes

IT WAS a hairy month for members of Westside Tavern's social club but the men have finally mown their “mos” and raised close to $3000 for men's health charities.

Hairdresser Sharon Bulmer did the honours during a final fundraiser at the hotel on Sunday.

A large crowd gathered around to see Peter Bertram and Eddie Ridgley rid themselves of their excess facial hair.

The men placed tins at various Maryborough businesses during Movember to collect donations for the cause.

A fundraising bowls day was also held, at Doonvilla Bowls Club.

At last count the boys had raised nearly $3000.

Movember is an annual event that gets men involved in raising awareness and raising cash for men's health issues – mainly prostate cancer and depression.
