Competition to name whale begins

THE return of Nala the iconic whale to Hervey Bay with a calf in tow has triggered an exciting competition to name her offspring.

The Chronicle is inviting readers to come up with a name for the four-week bub.

A free whale watching trip on the Tasman Venture is up for grabs, and a pair of movie passes.

Her name and the names of her calves in subsequent years were taken from the Lion King movie, but with character names running out we are asking readers to come up with a name for the 2010 bub.

Email your suggestions and your own name to carlie.walker@frasercoastchronicle.com.au

Entries close at midnight tomorrow.
