Whale City and Rum City square off in pre-selection battle

THE principal of Parke State School in Tinana, Len Fehlhaber has indicated he will seek nomination for Hinkler

Mr Fehlhaber is one of the party machine men and is well connected in LNP circles at both state and federal levels.

He is the secretary of the LNP federal divisional council.

This executve body promotes LNP membership, formulates policy, organises fundraisers and helps co-ordinate federal elections.

He will line up against Greg McMahon from Bundaberg, who is the joint vice-chairman of the same council.

Mr Fehlhaber did not comment on whether he would continue to act as principal during the pre-selection process.
"I have given this plenty of contemplation," Mr Fehlhaber said.

In Bundaberg, contenders for pre-selection in Paul Neville's seat of Hinkler are already lining up.

Probation and parole officer Greg McMahon, who used to belong to the ALP, yesterday formally announced he would be contesting the pre-selection.

Mr McMahon said he had been a member of the LNP for five years and was treasurer of the Bundaberg branch.

Mr Neville's adviser, Cathy Heidrich is in the mix.

"I would be telling you a lie if I said I wasn't interested," she said.

Training consultant Keith Pitt has been named as a possible contender but could not be contacted yesterday.

Former Isis Mayor Bill Trevor said he was not interested.
