What's in store for Nina and Billie on Offspring?
OFFSPRING fans can look forward to more buoyant storylines when the drama returns for seventh season next week.
After a two-year hiatus, the Proudmans reunited for a sixth season last year with one notable absence - family patriarch, Darcy.
"Last series started with Darcy's death, which was really powerful, but this series we really take off and there's a lot more buoyancy and fun," Kat Stewart, who plays Billie, tells The Guide. "I love just going along for the ride in the washing machine and the great thing about Billie is that she's so gutsy and so brave; she'll give anything a go."
After 18 months away touring Europe with her musician husband Mick (Eddie Perfect), Billie faces a tough choice.
Does she stay at home with her sister and soul mate Nina (Asher Keddie), or fly to the other side of the world to be with Mick?
"He's the love of her life and they're not living a life together and that's really hard," she says. "When she was her away from the family historically she was a mess. She's meant to be with her family and Mick understands that. She wants him to be the best version of himself and he wants the same for her, so it's that negotiation. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
"The great thing about Offspring is you never know what's going to happen."
Since returning to Melbourne Billie has also become a surrogate mum and guardian to teenager Brody and her newborn baby.
"Part of the jeopardy for Billie is Brody can do what she wants. She's a teenager and she's been unpredictable," Kat says.
"Billie takes Brody and the baby on with that knowledge and recognition it's just what she was like at that age. Billie had a really troubled adolescence and this is a way for her to help her younger self."
When the series returns, Nina is juggling life as a single mum to Zoe with her new relationship with Harry (Alexander England) while taking on a challenging new role as the Acting Head of Obstetrics at the hospital.
"Harry is really good for Nina, so Billie's on Team Harry," she says. "It could have been played that she was threatened by Harry because she considers herself Zoe's other parent but she's always been supportive of Nina finding someone.
"Billie's always overly involved and wants to know inappropriate details, and sometimes she's a bit competitive with Nina, but she always wants the best for her."
Newcomer TJ Power, who plays Billie, Nina and Jimmy's half-brother Will, also settles into the fold this season.
"He's so open and vulnerable and wants to be a part of the Proudman clan. This series you really feel like there are four siblings."
Season seven of Offspring premieres on Wednesday at 8.30pm on Channel 10.
