Wighton's mum stubborn over his big day

FOR once Raiders fullback Jack Wighton's mother doesn't know best.

The official 2017 NRL Season Guide says Wighton (pictured) will play his 100th NRL game on Saturday against the Warriors.

His mother won't be at GIO Stadium to see the 24-year-old reach the milestone because she thinks today will be only his 99th game.

"She won't believe me. I tried telling her it's this weekend but she's set on coming next weekend so I'll celebrate then, I guess," Wighton said

Either way reaching the mark will be a special time for Wighton.

"I'm very happy to be playing my 100th game for the club," he said.

"I think as a footballer it's always a great milestone, and to do it for the one team - I'm happy about that also. It means a lot.

"It's come quickly. The first few years were dragging out a fair bit [because] I had a few injuries but with a few pre-seasons under my belt I think I'm coping a bit better and recovering through the weeks."

Wighton's permanent switch to fullback has followed his first three years in a variety of backline roles.

"I love it because I've finally got something set. I spent most of my years moving from centre, wing, halves, but now I've got one position and I really know what I've got to work on so it helps," he said.

Canberra beat the Gold Coast Titans 42-16 last week, while the Warriors were solid in beating Parramatta 22-10.

Both sides have kept the same 17 players from last week.
