Wins for Hewitt and Stosur

IT took just 60 minutes for defending champion Samantha Stosur to smash her way into the third round of the US Open in New York.

Her dance moves may take a bit longer to work on.

The Queenslander celebrated her crushing 6-3 6-0 victory over Romanian qualifier Edina Gallovits-Hall with her version of the running man shuffle - her tribute to Redfoo from the music group LMFAO, who was watching her match from the stands.

"I figured, well, there's only going to be maybe one chance you can do that at the US Open with him there," Stosur said.

Shortly after the match, Stosur was still waiting for friends to chime in with the verdict on her dance.

"I'm sure I looked like a goose," she laughed.

Nobody has many questions about her tennis so far at Flushing Meadows though, where she has lost just five games in two matches.

"I feel like I've been playing well," she said.

Stosur plays American 31st seed Varvara Lepchenko next.

Fellow Aussie Lleyton Hewitt is also through to the next round after coming from a set and a service break down to score an impressive 4-6 6-2 6-1 6-4 first-round victory over German Tobias Kamke.

Casey Dellacqua and Anastasia Rodionova both saw their campaigns come to an end within hours of one another.

Dellacqua lost 6-4 6-4 to Chinese ninth seed Li Na, while Rodionova lost 6-2 6-2 to Lepchenko.
