Winter arrives early as chilly conditions hit Fraser Coast

WINTER doesn't officially start until June 1, but colder weather has already hit the Fraser Coast.

Temperatures plummeted to only five degrees in Maryborough on Monday, but we won't shiver through the night quite so badly for the rest of the week.

Last night saw the mercury drop to about 13 degrees on the Fraser Coast, after sinking to eight degrees in Hervey Bay on Monday.

The region will only reach a high of 20-21 degrees on Wednesday due to cloud and developing rain.

The rain is expected to clear before Friday.
