Woman allegedly 'squirrels' cop

A WOMAN accused of grabbing a police officer by the testicles and twisting them while resisting arrest has been released on bail.

The 28-year-old from Scarness was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police were called to Viper Nightclub on the Esplanade, Torquay about 1.40am.

They attempted to control the woman who was allegedly heavily intoxicated and refusing to leave the premises.

When a male officer placed her under arrest the woman allegedly “squirrel gripped” him and attempted to break free.

She was taken back to the Hervey Bay station where she was charged with serious assault of a police officer, public nuisance, being disorderly on licensed premises, obstructing police and stating a false name.
