Woman threatened police with rock

THREATENING police with a rock landed a woman in front of the Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday.

Jasmine Rose Oldfield, 36, pleaded guilty as the court heard in May police were doing patrols in Mount Morgan and saw her standing in the middle of the road yelling.

Police walked to the house she had come from to talk to the male occupant, an intoxicated Oldfield followed and wouldn't move out of the way when instructed.

The defendant kept yelling, grabbed a rock and came towards police.

An officer struck her in the arm with a baton to make her drop the rock and after continuously refusing to follow orders she was handcuffed.

Oldfield's defence lawyer told the court the defendant was intending to use the rock on the male inside the house but can acknowledge police could think she was going to hit them.

She was given 15 months probation.
