Works a drain on finances
ALMOST $300,000 has gone down the drain - so to speak - so far this financial year.
The council has spent $296,184 on much-needed drainage construction, much of this coming from works at various beach outlets.
Another major project under this banner was drainage construction for the Jumpo Creek Bridge upgrade.
The old timber bridge was first slated for the upgrade in 2010, when it was estimated it would cost $700,000.
This project has had $29,655 spent on it this year, out of a total allocation for 2012-13 of more than $150,000.
The smallest drainage expenditure was $35 on a drain at the PCYC.
