Workshop to improve sports clubs

THE Hervey Bay sports community is being encouraged to take advantage of the Bligh government's free financial management workshop being held next Monday.

Sport Minister Phil Reeves said the workshop is geared towards local sport and recreation clubs, administrators, instructors, coaches and volunteers.

“Participants will be provided with useful information on the role of a sporting club's board and management in relation to a range of financial and administrative topics,” Mr Reeves said.

“The workshop will feature presentations and good practice methods for club committee members, promoting discussion and sharing of ideas.

“Topics to be covered include how to develop and implement a budget, funding schemes, auditing and how to read the report and modern fundraising options.”

Mr Reeves said the workshop will provide the local sports community with a great opportunity to increase and share their knowledge, and contribute to the development of local.

“Under our Toward Q2: Tomorrow's Queensland initiative we are committed to helping Queenslanders become Australia's healthiest people by cutting obesity levels by one third by 2020.”

The Hervey Bay workshop will be held at the Hervey Bay RSL, admission is free, but bookings are essential
