OPINION: Darling Downs road tragedy brings toll to 19

THE shocking Darling Downs road toll continues to rise.

The death of a Dalby man whose car was involved in a collision with a semi-trailer early yesterday morning has brought the district's toll to 19 this year.

The man was a young father of two.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

This latest fatality occurred just before 3am and police are still investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Yet another community as well as family and friends now have a terrible tragedy with which to deal.

Police are at their wits' end as they strive to reduce this rapidly increasing list of fatalities.

There is only so much they can do.

They are continually appealing for drivers to slow down and show extra care in dark and wet conditions.

We should all take notice.
