"We love going in for a visit," she said.

The top five retail stores on the Fraser Coast based on Facebook reader comments are:

  1. Petstock Hervey Bay
  2. Accents of Elegance
  3. The Organic Patch
  4. Open House
  5. Slither & Swim Aquarium & Reptiles

Petstock Hervey Bay owner and store manager Justin Shipp thanked the store's customers for their support and said the staff worked hard so it was good recognition for them.

"My staff genuinely care for animals and they genuinely care about providing the best knowledge and advice and giving the customers a good experience while they're in the store," he said.

Mr Shipp said Petstock, which has been operating in Pialba for about two-and-a-half years, offered extra services on top of the products that were sold.

He said dog grooming, a do-it-yourself dog wash, puppy school, engraving name tags, pet photos with Santa and an Easter egg hunt for their human customers were some of the extra services.

"It's an opportunity for customers to get to know the staff better and build up a relationship with them," Mr Shipp said.

"The majority of the business is dogs and cats but we also stock a large range of aquarium products as well as reptile products and bird as well.

"We also stock some produce items in the horse and poultry section as well."

Lauri Greer nominated Accents of Elegance in Pialba "due to the wonderful range of shoes bags and jewellery and their fantastic customer service".

Also on Facebook, Toni Lee Nissen-Sheppard applauded The Organic Patch in Maryborough for the "wonderful service and their delicious healthy products" while Billyjo Lee commended Pialba's Open House for being "full of friendly faces and beautiful staff".

Cherylann Hughes had plenty of praise for Maryborough's Slither & Swim Aquarium & Reptiles saying the staff could locate products other pet shops couldn't find.

"The staff are friendly, know their fish, and other animals," she said.

"It's always our first port of call when we are in Maryborough.

"Also our last port of call, to take home the fish and extras we have found.

"Best shop in Maryborough."

Outside of the top five, the posts with the highest number of likes included Homewares from Everywhere, Granville Butchery, Cherry Tree Lane Fashion and VK's Cafe and Takeaway.
