Youth care home funding renewed

YOUTH workers on the Fraser Coast have welcomed the announcement that the Queensland Government will renew funding for a youth care home in Hervey Bay for another three years.

Child Safety Minister Phil Reeves has announced that more than $2.2 million would go to the Integrated Family Youth Services residential care program in Hervey Bay.

The centre has only been operating since 2009 and provides short-term accommodation for local disadvantaged youth.

“We understand some Queensland families are doing it tough and we want to provide them with the right support at the right time to keep their children safe,” Mr Reeves said.
