Youth network agencies given $1900 to stage beach party

A BEACH party during Youth Week, from April 3 to 13, has been awarded a $1900 grant from Fraser Coast Regional Council.

The event, being spearheaded by Reconnect and 20 other youth network agencies, aims to attract up to 400 youths to the beach.

It will include a mix of fashion parades, sport and recreation activities and information stalls.

The funding was awarded under the council's youth and community development grants and aims to encourage youths to participate in the community and celebrate youth culture.

The Maryborough Neighbourhood Centre received a $2500 grant to help stage the 14th annual Youth Awards.

The council also allocated a regional youth grant to its senior youth and community development officer to work with progress associations across the region to develop Youth Week activities.

Under the grant, the Howard, Bauple, Glenwood, Tiaro and River Heads associations will have access to grants of up to $500 each to host a Youth Week event.
