Zombies descend on Maryborough

IT WILL be the day of the dead in Maryborough this morning as a zombie apocalypse marches its way through the CBD.

Market shoppers have been warned to avoid all shuffling, moaning, drooling brain-biters in the city's first annual Zombie Walk. It's not all bad news.

If the undead do manage to take your brains, the $1 registration will go towards raising money for research in nervous system, spine and brain disorders.

For those who do want to keep their cranium today, the telltale signs someone might be less than alive include the inability to bend their knees and a distinct lack of a tan.

Marching zombies can head to Queens Park to register for the march from 9am before the horde staggers its way to the Town Hall Green at 9.30.

The Brain Foundation will use the funds from the event for research and treatment of brain, spine and nervous system disorders.
