Zumba benefits lead Jessi to teach

WHEN Jessi Thomsen first got involved with Zumba, it was to help get her moving again after she had surgery on her kidneys.

The 21-year-old Maryborough woman was advised by her specialist to get into a fitness program that would allow movement with scar tissue and the dance fitness sensation proved to be a perfect fit.

Jessi met famed Zumba Education Specialist Enrique Salamao through the program.

Now she teaches Zumba herself.

Tonight both Enrique and Jessi will be part of a great Zumba event at Maryborough's Excelsior Band Hall, starting at 6pm.

Jessi said being a Zumba instructor was a lot of fun.

"Zumba Fitness has allowed me to gain fitness and wellbeing and now I can help and motivate people to reach their fitness goals in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere," Jessi said.

Tickets will cost $15 if purchased before tonight's event or $20 at the door.
